Empiricism is data-driven and relies on direct observation, experimentation or tangible evidence as foundations for making good decisions. At n2 (n-squared) Solutions, we favor the deployment of systems over discrete solutions for continuous improvement. In Foundations & Control, we focus more on the implementation of decision processes and tools and less on outcomes. We prioritize consistency over optimization as the first tier of control. Segregation of these activities is counter-intuitive and requires organizational discipline. Organizations that fail to establish Foundations & Control are paralyzed by chronic second-guessing and waste resources in later steps—common symptoms of mediocrity. Noise generated by variance makes value from alternative solutions difficult to discern and measure.
